Call for Innovation

Amanda Products, the innovative offroad aftermarket division of Amanda Manufacturing, turned to M3D to lead the development of a line of products that built on the success of the award-winning SpeedHook.

M3D assembled a highly-experienced transportation design team, crafted and led intensive ideation sessions with engineers, designers and executives, and directly contributed to every step of the prototyping process. The prototype products were displayed at SEMA 2014 in Las Vegas, capturing attendees’ imagination. This effort took Amanda Products to a new level and put aftermarket industry leaders on notice.

Process

Our unique process involved the following:

  • Industry/consumer purchase data combined with consumer feedback
  • Segregated teams with balanced creative, engineering and executive representation
  • Simultaneous brainstorming on the same topic
  • Room layout encouraging on-your-feet thinking rather than table discussions
  • Shared concept walk-throughs after every brainstorming period
  • Concept assessment and narrowing
  • Designers were assigned specific products to develop proposals against
  • Primary design direction chosen after all proposals were selected

Form and Function

We coordinated the transition from design to prototyping, working with engineers to perfect the products.

  • Developed unique door, bumper and mirror concepts
  • Worked with Hollywood-based 3-D modeler to translate design sketches
  • Coordinated 3D printing and traditional metalforming fabrication
  • Generated exceptional attention from buyers and other OE designers
  • Recognized as displaying the most out-of-the-box thinking at SEMA
